School of Resistance The Revolt of Dignity
Watch the recording of the discussion here
In the spirit of the conference series “School of Resistance”, writer and activist Yvan Sagnet, activist Luca Casarini and philosopher Lorenzo Marsili discussed the internal contradictions of global capitalism and the efforts it sparks to resist intolerable suffering and oppression with dramaturge Martin Valdés-Stauber. In the film The New Gospel (2020) by IIPM/Milo Rau, Yvan Sagnet in the character of Jesus Christ is at the head of a movement for the rights of refugees who reached Europe via the Mediterranean Sea only to be enslaved in tomato fields in southern Italy. The panel reflects on this “revolt of dignity” as an artistic intervention that actively engages with forms of social order in order to realize alternative modes of action and of life.
