New Departures: Theatre in Iran
In Iran, theatre is developing into the leading medium of the country's arts scene. It invents new body languages, experiments with performative aesthetics, and is steadily taking over urban space.
After the showing of a video of Reza Servati’s staging of “Woyzeck” (Tehran, 2013) at 4 pm, theatre maker and theatre scholar Narges Hashempour gives a lecture on the current theatre scene in Teheran (6.15 pm): "Bottom-up Strategies in new Iranian Theatre and Performance Art".
The evening concludes with a discussion between German and Iranian artists on their experience of cooperations with Iran (from 7.30 pm).
With choreographer Modjgan Hashemian (Berlin), Narges Hashempour (Berlin/Tehran), Islamic scholar Annette Heilmann (Hamburg), choreographer Helena Waldmann (Berlin) and director Stephan Weiland (Berlin). Hosted by Dorothea Marcus (Köln).
Reza Servati, born 1983, has a M.A. in directing of Tarbiat Modares University in Tehran. 2003 he founded Max Theatre Group, an artist group, who is researching physical forms of theatrical expression. "Woyzeck" cast: Morteza Esmaeli Kashi, Pantea Panahiha and others.
