Akademie der Künste publishes further online offers
Television recording of Bertolt Brecht’s Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder with Helene Weigel in the leading role
In cooperation with the Bertolt Brecht Archive of the Akademie der Künste, a legendary production – Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder (Mother Courage and Her Children) directed by Bertolt Brecht and Erich Engel with Helene Weigel in the leading role – is now available in the Berliner Ensemble’s “BE on demand” programme. The recording by Deutsche Fernsehfunk (East Germany’s broadcaster) shows a performance from 1957 and is an example of the production that gave rise to the so-called “Courage Model” – a book of photos and instructions that became the obligatory model for all subsequent productions of the play. The recording is available until 31.12.2020.
Tour of the exhibition “urbainable – stadthaltig” with the curator
The exhibition on the subject of the city and sustainability was forced to close prematurely in November due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. For all those interested who were unable to visit the show presenting ideas for the city of the future or who would like to see it again with the curators’ comments, a film tour of the exhibition has now been produced. The curators Tim Rieniets, Matthias Sauerbruch and Jörn Walter present 33 projects by members of the Architecture Section and their guests from the fields of architecture, engineering, landscape architecture and urban planning. more

Akademie members in conversation
Last spring, the Akademie der Künste produced 26 short interviews with members – interviews that have lost none of their topicality. The artists talk about their current work, about the consequences of the crisis for society and about what artistic action is capable of achieving. Hilde Léon, Jochen Gerz, Andres Veiel, Georg Stefan Troller, Ulrich Peltzer, Uwe Timm, Peter Ablinger and others have their say. more
The digital John Heartfield
The Akademie der Künste is sustaining its focus on Heartfield with a variety of digital offerings. The varied online exhibition “Cosmos Heartfield” comprising photos, documents, sound and film elements on the life and work of John Heartfield places new emphases in its engagement with the political artist. An interactive 360° panoramic tour guides the visitor through the John Heartfield exhibition, which was on show at Pariser Platz last summer. And the “Heartfield Online” catalogue is making 6,200 objects from the artist’s estate of graphic work permanently accessible.
