Alexander von Schlippenbach

Alexander von Schlippenbach (*1938 in Berlin, Germany) is a jazz pianist, arranger and composer. As early as 1966, his Globe Unity recording laid the foundations for the most important large new jazz music ensembles. For 50 years, the resulting Globe Unity Orchestra line-up has been a who's who of European jazz. Von Schlippenbach recently gained international attention with the complete recordings of the works of Thelonious Monk and Eric Dolpy. In 2007, von Schlippenbach won the SWR Jazz Award. In 2017, he was awarded the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
